I am an independent historian, and work as a book editor. I wrote the book, The San Diego World's Fairs and Southwestern Memory, 1880-1940 (University of New Mexico Press, 2005), and my articles and reviews have appeared in numerous scholarly journals, anthologies, and museum catalogs. Most of my writings are about the history of the American Southwest and California.
I play rhythm and lead guitar in the garage punk band, Red Cities from Lincoln NE, and have been in Zombie vs. Shark from Norman OK. I also run Modern Peasant Records, an independent punk and garage rock label with my friends Nate and Robert from The Putters, Killer Kicks, and 667s.
I hang with my wife Tabby and son Spencer, and we enjoy independent label music, skateboarding, and gardening.
